I’ve been thinking a lot about this article in conjunction to my own experiences.
I’ll counter this stance by saying: power is neutral, if power is defined as the ability to achieve your desired outcomes. We need power to create a better world. But of course power can destroy — and corrupt.
White supremacy conflates getting its way through manipulation, stealing, maneuvering, deception, and enacting violence as evidence of inherent intellectual superiority — when in actuality it’s largely due to their White privilege that gives access, smoothes the path, and gives impunity if their dirty deeds are discovered.
White supremacy doesn’t compete.
